Auchteralyth
is 3 miles north of the small market town of Alyth, in north-eastern
Perthshire. It is easily accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh
airports. For motorists there are good motorway links as far as
Perth. The relatively empty roads of north-east Scotland are a
joy to drive on. Rosyth Ferry Terminal, where the Superfast Ferry
from Zebrugge docks, is just an hour away by road
Ideally
situated on the edge of the Highlands, Auchteralyth has easy access
to wonderful, varied countryside. To the immediate north and west
are the stunning Angus Glens. To the east is the thriving port
city of Dundee and the unspoilt sandy beaches of the east coast
of Scotland.
Glamis
Castle is approximately 10 miles away, close to the historic town
of Kirriemuir, birth place of author J.M. Barrie, while Braemar
Castle and Scone Palace are both within easy reach.
In
and around Alyth itself there are three superb 18-hole courses:
Alyth Golf Club, Strathmore Golf Centre and Glenisla Golf Course,
which offer varied and challenging golf. |
